Comedian Michelle Wolf onstage at the Comedy Cellar.

What’s So Funny?

Life can be tough, my friends, and sometimes we all need a giggle, a loud snort or a good old-fashioned guffaw.

We need to laugh, my friends. Every single day. So it’s important to remember that when you’re staying with us, a hearty chuckle can be guaranteed a brisk five-minute walk away.

The Comedy Cellar has been featuring some of the best stand-up comedians for almost thirty years, and is a magnet for them all today, both upcoming and famous. Sara Silverman, Dave Chappelle, Amy Schumer, Aziz Ansari, Kevin Hart, Marc Maron, Jon Stewart, Chris Rock, Ray Romano, and Michelle Wolf are just some of the bold-faced names who have all graced its stage. True, the audience is most likely to see late-night comedy writers, folks who’ve won comedy competitions and super-talented stars-to-be, but those soon-to-be-household names will still deliver the yuks. (Isn’t it great to be able to say, “I saw her when?”)

The show is in a showcase format–no headliners here. About five to seven performers will perform short sets. There are three shows a night on Sunday through Thursday and four on the weekend nights.

Attendees must be 21 and over. Shows run from $14 to $24, with an additional two-drink minimum and reservations can be snagged online for each show. Head to the Olive Cafe upstairs if you’d like to hang out with the comics post-set!

Word to the wise: Don’t sit up front unless you want to be roasted by the comedians!
