Ronnie Jenkins in Hotel Lobby

What Are You Up To This Weekend, Ronnie?

What the locals are doing this weekend

There’s one thing that everyone’s favorite Washington Square employee, Ronnie Jenkins, is not going to do tonight, and that’s going to the Bernie and Hilary debate in Brooklyn, about seven blocks from his home.”Too crowded!” Smart man.

Ronnie will be seeing family. “My niece is about to graduate from Barnard.”

After hanging with the clan, the proud dad is going to try to score tickets to see Phylicia Rashad play. It is about a Southern matriarch in Tarell Alvin McCraney’s Head of Passes which opened on Monday night at the Public Theater.

The former Cosby mom has gotten rave reviews; Ben Brantley of The New York Times wrote that, “she an be found railing against God and the elements with a harrowingly Lear-like rage.” Good luck getting those tickets!

After the Theater

Post-theater, he plans to head to Bathtub Gin, a speakeasy-type place in Chelsea, which is not far from the Public Theater, that specializes in…gin (or cuckoo juice, as a friend of mine calls it.

In a nod to the Prohibition-era moonshine brewed in bathrooms, the owners have installed an actual copper bathtub in the bar. Thirsty gin-lovers can order a Blonde Ambition (Hendrick’s gin, Montenegro Amaro, yellow chartreuse, pressed lime, fresh raspberry & cucumber. It is shaken, served tall and topped with prosecco, a Pimm’s Cup (Bombay Sapphire gin, Pimm’s No. 1, Aperol, fresh lemon, pressed ginger and fresh mint, over ice with cucumber, orange and raspberry), or any number of boozy delights.

Sounds yummy, Ronnie!
