People on skis in Central Park.

Snow Day!

Nobody, but nobody comes to New York City expecting to engage in winter sports.

But what if we told you that for one day a year, Central Park turns into a winter wonderland where participants can ski, sled, ice skate and more?

Yes, the snow is courtesy of a snow machine, but the cold weather fun is very, very real. Tomorrow, January 26th, head to the Central Park Bandshell (you can easily access it if you enter the park at 72nd St.) between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Aside from the activities listed above, you can take a ski lesson and watch ice carving in an ice sculpture garden. Or partake in snowshoeing, curling, ice bowling, even dodgeball (huh?). Or maybe mug in a bobsled photo booth after watching a shovel sled “race” geared toward the little ones.

Hot chocolate and snacks will be offered in a warming hut, plus plenty of food trucks will be on hand.

And it’s all free (our favorite word!), including lessons and equipment rentals. All you have to do is show up, sporting an ID if you want to participate in any sports.

Whatever you decide to do, have a great weekend, everyone!
