Football in the Village

If you’re here at the hotel for the Super Bowl Sunday this weekend (February 3rd), you don’t have to miss the big game! Sure, you can watch it in your room, but, hey, that’s no fun. The whole point of championship games is to get together and celebrate, or grouse, with your fellow fans. Here are a few local joints where you can cheer, jeer, and drink some beer with our neighbors.

First, a few facts: Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. The New England Patriots will battle the Los Angeles Rams for the championship trophy and ring (but you knew that, right?). The halftime show will feature Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Outkast’s Big Boi.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s move on to the important stuff, like where to grab a drink and a nosh while cheering on your favorite team–and not break the bank while doing so.

Bleecker Street Bar has four flat screen TVs, so the game is visible wherever you’re sitting. Beers on tap or by the bottle run $5 to $8, wine $8 and fancy cocktails only $12. Party subs and snacks are gratis.

Houston Hall has you covered on the beer front with a $40 all-you-can-drink from 6 p.m. to the end of the game. Tack on two 12-foot tv screens and a menu that includes wings, sliders, nachos, onion rings and fried pickles and you’re good to go.

Whiskey fans will enjoy The Spaniard, which will show the game on two TVs and a 5.5 foot projector screen. You’ll find dozens of whisky offerings, along with family-style platters of buffalo duck wings and charbroiled oysters.

Those who want to get a little fancy can head to Rosemary’s and chow down on American game-day classics topped off with a touch of Italy. The $45 buffet-style menu will include a mozzarella bar, chicken wings, pulled pork and housemade focaccia. Two big-screen projector will capture the action. Pitchers of Forst lager can be had for only $25. Doors open at 5 p.m. and reservations are advised.

Play ball!
