We love the annual New York Botanical Garden Orchid Show, and not only because it’s one of the first signs that, yes, spring will indeed come to our fair city. The flowers are unbelievable. Spectacular.
This year the event runs from February 18th through April 9th. The theme? Orchids of Thailand. Bet you didn’t know that Thailand is home to over 1,200 orchid species and is the leading exporter of cultivated tropical orchids in the world! Well, now you do!
Aside from the flowers, the NYBG has dance performances, film screenings, orchid care demonstrations and opportunities to consult the orchid experts. On select nights, visitors can join in on Orchid Evenings, where they can enjoy music, beer, wine, specialty cocktails and light bites surrounded by the lush natural beauty of the exhibition.
Tickets begin at $20 for adults and $18 for seniors and students. Children 2 – 12 will cost you $8, while tots under two are free. The prices are a tad more expensive for the weekends and the evenings.
