Opera For Nothing at Lincoln Plaza

Opera For Nothing!

This series is the coolest thing for opera lovers

…and probably even cooler for those that are interested in opera, but may not have the cash to plop down on tickets. Or even those who want to see what all the fuss is about. You can experience opera for nothing, courtesy of the Met, who knows how to do it right.

Every year, the Metropolitan Opera puts on a Summer HD Festival.

Ten performances from the company’s Live in HD series of movie theater transmissions will be broadcast on a huge screen in Lincoln Center Plaza for free!

The festival starts off this Friday, the 27th with a screening of the film Amadeus. For those too young to remember, Amadeus was a biography of the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart that won the Oscar for best picture in 1985. (If you haven’t seen it, do. It was a terrific movie!)

The rest of the series will focus on the Met’s own productions:

Le Nozze di Figaro
Saturday, August 27, 7:30 pm

Il Trovatore
Sunday, August 28, 8:00 pm

Otello
Monday, August 29, 8:00 pm

La Fille du Régiment
