If there’s one thing we New Yorkers like to do (besides stuffing our face), it’s laugh. Our world today is oh-so-stressful and there is no better way to keep on keeping on than with a good, old-fashioned belly laugh.
And this brings us to the New York Comedy Fest starting tomorrow (November 7th) and running through Sunday (November 12th). Some of our greatest New York City venues will host festival events, like the Beacon Theater, Carnegie Hall and Caroline’s on Broadway.
So, which funny men and women do we have a chance to see this year? Here are some highlights:
Writer, director (Clerks, Chasing Amy), comedian and podcaster Kevin Smith will hold court at Caroline’s on Broadway.
Remember the show 30 Rock? Well, fans of the show should check out Improvised 30 Rock. Armed with audience suggestions, actors will assume the roles of Liz Lemon, Jack Donaghy, Kenneth the Page and others.
If you love Samantha Bee’s show Full Frontal as much as we do, check out SNL alum Ana Gasteyer’s conversation with one of our favorite former Daily Show correspondents.
Amanda Seales, who plays Tiffany on HBO’s Insecure tackles subjects ranging from dating to police brutality to racism in Smart, Funny & Black: Amanda Seales.
The biggest event is a fundraiser. Stand Up for Heroes: A Benefit for the Bob Woodruff Foundation will feature Hasan Minhaj, John Mulaney, Trevor Noah, Conan O’Brien, John Oliver, Jon Stewart (Oh Jon, we miss you so!) and other surprise guests!
There are a lot more events than we’ve listed, so head here for a full list and tickets!
