Yep, we all scream for ice cream. But you won’t have to raise your voice a single decibel if you head to Bryant Park this weekend (June 1-3) for the Scooper Bowl New York. (I know, I know…bad pun, but we’ll overlook it if the cones are good.)
Here’s the deal: All-you-can-eat ice cream and sorbets from the nation’s leading companies and craft creameries. There will be 64 flavors and 9 tons of ice cream on hand! Familiar brands such as Häagen-Dazs, Ben & Jerry’s, Breyers and Baskin-Robbins will be hawking their wares. (Our favorite ice cream of all time is B&R chocolate chip!) Boston-based Vice Cream, Talenti sorbet and gelato, upstate New York’s Adirondack Creamery, and acai-based Samazon will all be on hand.
New York’s own Big Gay Ice Cream Truck, Wafels & Dinges Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, and Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory will be our local representatives.
The most unusual vendor? My/Mo Mochi is ice cream wrapped in a layer of mochi dough. (Mochi is a short-grained, sweet, glutinous rice with a high starch content used in Japanese cooking.) We’re game to try it. If it contains ice cream, it’s gotta be good, right?
Tickets are $25 per day and can be purchased at the door. A plus? Proceeds will benefit the Jimmy Fund, which supports pediatric and adult cancer care. The fun will go on from noon to 9 p.m. rain or shine, save dangerous weather or conditions.
