The Bronx Zoo is all about kids throughout the year, but in the weeks leading up to Halloween, they really pull out all the stops.
For every weekend in October (through the 29th), the zoo will be transformed into Boo at the Zoo, a festival that promises plenty of spooky fun for the little ones.
A Halloween Hayride will feature visits from lots of creepy things: snakes, spiders, and bugs. Guides on the Nature Trek will teach them all about the great outdoors. Off-Broadway will be represented with characters from the popular Very Hungry Caterpillar Show. There will be a haunted forest for kids 12 and up.
Add to that magic shows, an extinct animal graveyard, pumpkin carving, crafts and a costume parade and the kiddos will be in heaven.
But the zoo didn’t forget about the adults! They will enjoy Bootoberfest, where they’ll get to sample beer, listen to music and play games.
The cost is $36.95 for adults, $26.95 for kids 3-12, and $31.95 for seniors. Toddlers under 3 get in for free.
