So we love Paris, the second most beautiful city in the world. (Take a wild guess as to which city we crown Number One.) While we can’t be there this year for Bastille Day, we’re going to have to celebrate right here. Seems like a win-win to us!
The most festive way to celebrate the holiday will be at the Bastille Day festival on 60th Street this Sunday, July 15th. Will there be French cuisine? Oui! La musique Français? Mais, bien sûr! East 60th Street from Fifth Avenue to Lexington Avenue will abound with all things French from noon to 5 p.m.
Attendees can wander a pop-up French-themed market, ogle Gallic street art and dance to live performances. A special Kids Corner will be set up to entertain the little ones. There will even be a raffle that you can enter to win trips to Paris or Martinique! All for free!
There will be a few special events that will cost you a few, but seem so worth it. Sample exquisite French champagnes and sparkling cocktails while munching hors d’oeuvres, macarons (Ladurée!) and chocolates and listening to jazz. There are two sessions (1:30 and 3:30) of the Champagne and Jazz event and tickets start at $60.
The Summer in the South of France Tasting will play host to a selection of Président cheeses, Bayonne ham, French wine and beer and artisanal breads from Maison Kayser. $25 will get you tastings of three wines and a beer, plus charcuterie, cheese and bread. Sounds like a great deal to us.
