The New York International Auto Show is back! Our city has been hosting this annual event that showcases the newest and shiniest and, in some cases, wackiest vehicles for over 100 years. The Jacob Javits Center will hold more than four floors of displays of over 1,000 new cars and trucks and futuristic concept cars. (Yes, the irony is not lost on us that this event takes place in a city where most people don’t even drive.)
Highlights include a crazy expensive Jaguar Land Rover that retails for $199,495, the return of the Lincoln Continental and the unveiling of the Bugatti Chiron– only 500 have been produced and will retail at 2.4. million euros. Each. As in apiece.
Do you remember the 60’s movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? It starred Dick Van Dyke as Caractacus Potts, an eccentric inventor who puts together a magical flying car in his workshop. Well, an equally quirky retired NYC Police Department sergeant has transformed a 1914 coupe into his version of that mythical auto. Fans will be able to see the product of all his hard work at the entrance of the show.
Tickets are way reasonable: $16 for adults and $7 for kids.
Have a great week, everyone!
